This beautiful table and oven ware was started as folk art, at the very beginning of the art of pottery making. It has been made in the southwestern town of Boleslawiec since the 17th century. The peacock pattern is one of the oldest patterns use on pottery. It's been around for around 300 years.
The pottery is handmade and the pattern is hand painted. In the beginning farmers used carved potatoes to produce the original pattern and a sea sponge was to apply paint. Pottery is comprised of three wares: porcelain, earth ware and stone ware.
The polish peacock pottery is made of stone ware. Pottery is baked in a kiln using very high heat of above 1350 centigrade, this is called firing. Firing is also used to adhere glaze and color. When finished the pattern is coated with a transparent protective glaze to prevent ware and food sticking.
Pottery is both beautiful and strong. So it's no surprise that it is both bought for collectors to display and also for plain people like me and you to use on our table as everyday functional dinner ware.
Polish Pottery Peacock dinnerware can stand up to today's dish washers and microwave ovens and the paint is lead free and perfectly safe to use with food. Take a look, buy your first piece. People either fall in love with this pattern or they don't like them at all. Which will you be?
